BIGHAT is an acronym for Beaumont – Irvington – Grant Park – Hollywood – Alameda – Laurelhurst. For more on this topic, click here.
Beaumont is in the northeast corner of BIGHAT. It features Beaumont Village (a great shopping district) and homes that range from one-bedroom houses to mansions.
Irvington is on the western edge of BIGHAT. It features Broadway, the commercial street full of stores, services, and quick access to downtown. Irvington homes range from brand new energy efficient gems to century-old craftsmen.

Grant Park Neighborhood
Grant Park is in the middle of BIGHAT. It features U.S. Grant Park, a nearly 20-acre park with a pool, running track, playground, and water feature. Grant Park homes range from modest bungalows to over-the-top estates on 1/2-acre lots.

The Hollywood District is in the eastern portion of BIGHAT. Hollywood has a great commercial area, Portland’s best library, and the legendary Hollywood Farmer’s Market. Hollywood homes include condos, bungalows, and larger craftsmen.
Alameda is on the northern border of BIGHAT. It is predominantly residential, so peace and quiet are two of its best features. Alameda homes range from mid-century ranches carved into the Alameda Ridge to century-old ridge-top estates.
Laurelhurst is on the south side of BIGHAT. Laurelhurst has a great community of people and is fortunate to have Laurelhurst Park. Laurelhurst homes range from modest ranches and Mediterraneans to palatial colonials and craftsmen.
